Module 1

	•	Injury statistics
	•	Hidden costs of injury
	•	The need for change
	•	Six step approach management strategy for implementing OH&S programs.

Module 2
decoding the Code - understanding the National Code of Practice for Manual Handling:
	•	Risk identification
	•	Questions that help us identify risks
	•	Prioritising identified risks for assessment
	•	Risk assessment - analysing risk factors
	•	Risk control
	•	Hierarchy of control - eliminating or reducing risk factors
	•	Evaluation of controls
The remaining four modules consist of scenarios which, for the purpose of this package have already been identified as carrying risk. The challenge is to perform risk assessment using the video simulation in conjunction with written material supplied. A control action plan can also be developed for each scenario. This can be compared with the comprehensive examples supplied in the workbook.

Module 3:
	•	Toileting a client in an aged care setting.

Module 4:
	•	Dressing a client's leg in a community nursing setting.

Module 5:
	•	Emptying a washing machine in a health care facility laundry.
 

Module 6:
	•	Bed to trolley transfer of a client in an acute hospital setting.

MANUAL HANDLING TRAINING VIDEOS (1996)
Six Modules + Workbook + IAC forms.
This video series (funded by WorkCover NSW) deals in detail with the formulation of management policies and procedures aimed at safe work practices, including information about implementing the manual-handling regulation and 'decoding the code of practice' for the healthcare and agedcare industries. Modules 3 to 6 use trigger scenarios of workplace hazards to assist programme participants to problem-solve and understand the risk identification, assessment and control (IAC) process.
